If you engage in the lazy bigotry of making fun of Mormons, you might ask yourself if, in mixed company, you speak the same way about other religions.
And if there is a religion you don’t make fun of, you might ask yourself why. After all, every religion has at least one fundamental article of faith that defies reason and logic. Then again, if you make fun of all people of faith, if you feel good calling them narrow-minded and stupid, you might look in the mirror for the moron with the narrow mind.
That old South Park cartoon episode, “All About Mormons,” summed up my philosophy toward the people who imagine themselves morally and intellectually superior to Mormons.
High and mighty. In that show, which highlighted the Mormons’ many irrational beliefs, young Stan has fun hanging out with Gary, the new Mormon kid in South Park Elementary School, but Stan still decides to shun Gary because it just isn’t cool to associate with a Mormon.
Gary figures it out. He finally tells Stan:
Look, maybe us Mormons do believe in crazy stories that make absolutely no sense, and maybe Joseph Smith did make it all up, but I have a great life and a great family, and I have the Book of Mormon to thank for that. The truth is, I don’t care if Joseph Smith made it all up, because what the church teaches now is loving your family, being nice and helping people. And even though people in this town might think that’s stupid, I still choose to believe in it. All I ever did was try to be your friend, Stan, but you’re so high and mighty you couldn’t look past my religion and just be my friend back. You’ve got a lot of growing up to do, buddy. Suck my balls.
That says it.

These same bigots of Mormonism would never, ever criticize Islam whose founder:
raped a 9 year old girl,
was a slave owner,
was a leader who ordered people to be tortured,
ordered adulterers to be stoned,
ordered countless nonbelievers to be beheaded,
was a killer,
was a warmonger who spread his “religion of peace” by the sword,
was a man who suffered from hallucinations of voices telling him to do violent things,
was a tyrant,
was a homicidal maniac perhaps the equivalent of 100,000 Osama Bin Ladens.
And this sadistic lunatic is considered to be the “ideal man” in Islam.

First: as a Mormon, I will admit I was very confused about this suebcjt only a couple of weeks ago. But I recently learned something. A man is not MARRIED to two different women, only sealed. It would take a long time to explain it fully, but just know that being sealed simply means that you can be with someone forever in your eternal family . You aren't married to two different people, simply, you can be with them in the next life.Second: polygamy was originally commanded, back in the 1800 s. This was commanded so we could grow as a community. After the doctrine and covenants ended, and we no longer needed this commandment, we were commanded to stop. If we had a record of every prophets communication with god, we would have record that we were COMMANDED TO STOP. The fundamentalist latter day saints, or the FLDS, are a group of people who have continued the polygamy practice, a of they may call themselves mormons, but they are not the same religion as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. -2Was this answer helpful?

Where I learned about the Mormon religion

Anithariahni, I was raised mormon too and your answer is not correct.
The mormons quit practicing polygamy because President Lincoln was being pressured to do something about the mormons who had just slaughtered a wagon train.. He needed the troops for the civil war. The deal was they had to prosecute someone for the Meadows mountain massacre, stop polygamy, and accept a Federally appointed governor - or see if the danites could stand up to the calvary.
As far as the anti-mormon bigotry... give them an inch and they'll be telling you how morally superior they are. it's part of their worldview. They consider themselves to be israelites and therefore victims.
The best thing we could do is set these religions against each other, to keep them from attacking our rights, so criticize as though you belong to another religion.
If you want an interesting read there is a book on archive.org written by one Brigham Young's wives, Ann Eliza Young who left him.

They still believe in polygamy and defend it in principle. It goes on in even in SaltLake but its basically ignored. I used to sew for a living so I'd see three or four of them in the material store in their little house on the prairie dresses. My bro worked at an upper end auto body there, and the owners were practicing, living in SLC, so it's not just those that live out in the boonies.
The best thing that I can say about them is that they have no problem updating their religion. it's enlightening to cruise the recovering or ex mormon forums too, to see how those that are still close feel about Mittens.

And George, I could pull many more nasty things out of the bible than you have the Koran here, and out of context, time and culture.
Mohammed worshipped the same god and made the same scripture accessible to the people. It's based on the Torah.
During that time only the Rabbis were able to read the Torah, and the Christians held the bible the same way, only the priests could read it.
The Age of marriage was 9 in the bible too, but they didn't' have sex until the girl menstruated.
Many people who believe in he bible also believe that Mohammed in mentioned in it, as the comforter.
It sounds like you've been reading ignorant hater sites.

Shekissesfrogs, Jesus didn't murder to spread his religion; Mohammed did.
There is no comparison between the two. Only a clueless knucklehead such as yourself could find some moral relativism between the two.
