Yeah, like maybe the UN will go in and thump his ass.
We already gave South Ossetia away when we failed to include Georgia in NATO. It was a signal. We need to send a different signal right now if we don't want the whole of Georgia to get Grozni-ized. I don't think there's anyone who has both a sufficient understanding of the true long-term situation and the willingness to take a risk. This, IMO, is the Cuban Missile crisis all over again. The issue is how we're going to get gas and oil without the pipelines running through Russia. Putin has already shown his willingness to use gas as a club against Europe.
