What gives? Hugo Chavez has been trying to bury liberal democracy in Venezuela, and I can’t find one Democratic Party blogger who was upset enough about it yesterday to publicly oppose him or to celebrate the "No" vote. Most of the major Democratic blogs didn't even mention the big referendum yesterday.
Freedom and democracy just don’t seem to be a priority among Democratic activists anymore. Their pseudo-liberalism is exposed.

Update: The referendum may have attracted the attention of one prominent Democratic blogger. Kevin Drum at The Washington Monthly's "Political Animal" is taking some heat for calling Chavez's defeat "good news."
Is Drum a Democrat? I don't know. He appears to be a democrat.
Liberal Democracy ? A President that takes the goverment's money and gives to the poor. Sounds like the Democrats in Congress in the U.S. Reid and Pelosi must be seeing this as a setback.

Every nation has a mix of socialism and free markets. A healthy democracy is constantly fine-tuning that mix, looking for the best results for all.
The problem Chavez presents is not in his economic arguments. The problem he presents is in his attempt to end freedom, including the freedom of all other Venezuelans to make their economic arguments, too.
