Who would have guessed it? Al Gore was the best thing about the Oscars last night. He was funny. The rest of the show was unbelieveably slow.
I like this from movie critic Tom Shales, who noted that the Oscar night music “went on and on and on. And on. It might still be going on now, for all we know”:
Celine Dion sang the “world premiere” of a[n Ennio] Morricone-penned song called “I Knew I Loved You.” Unfortunately it sounded like the theme from “Titanic” and every other song she ever sang.
There were a few other good moments. Congratulations, in particular, to Martin Scorsese for surviving the long wait.

People watch the Oscars?
Gore is funny... when he has good writers, like when he was on David Letterman. When he is being himself? Not so much.

Actors are so fake I can't stand to watch them anymore. They are all a bunch of dillusional freaks. They support the liberal agenda so much you know they aren't right in the head. I could care less who wins best pretender or best supporting pretender. Why do we pay someone millions to pretend when we have men and women doing and dying for $25K a year?

Good point, Preevyet. Sports idols too. Military families also get pretty shabby treatment. I don't know why we are so cheap with the military personnel when they are handling equipment that may cost millions.
