« The increasingly popular Iraq war again? We win? | Main | Why the terrorism fad »

Well if Hagel is being disingenuous, he is a very good actor. Everyone who lived through Vietnam understands the drip-drip-drip of escalation. The real problem here, and he states it, is that we are sending them in without a new strategy. I am not convinced we are taking the necessary risks to win in Iraq. The rules-of-engagement have not changed. Determination to win is more than making a show of force. I am much more gratified by seeing General Petraeus running the show than I am by anything Bush has verbalized.

It's acting. Hagel should remember why we had to abandon South Vietnam. It wasn't because we were losing any battles.
