What does a tourist do in Kyrgyzstan? Well, it turns out there’s lots to do. You can visit the Burana Tower, an 11th century minaret in the Chui valley. You can go to Tash Rabat, the fortress-like rest stop for the caravans of old, if you want take in the breathtaking scenery or enjoy horseback riding in the Kara-Kuiun canyon. In Bishkek, the capital, you can shop at the Osh Bazaar and see priceless treasures in local museums.
Kyrgyzstan has some stunningly beautiful mountain ranges, the legendary trails of the ancient Silk Road, and Issyk Kul, the world’s second largest alpine lake. The mountain pastures -- called jailoos -- are wonderful for hikes, but they can be rainy, windy and cold all year.
One tip: Take your shoes off before entering any Kyrgyz home.

I also hear it's a great place to buy hair dye without gloves too!
