Brent Scowcroft denies ever making statements attributed to him in "State of Denial."


The gas prices for the 2004 election thing always gets me. I've had people I know tell me that Bush drove the prices down in time to get re-elected and then jacked them back up after the polls closed. Amazing.

Even one guy that is usually right on top of it was buying the story. In February 2005 he told me all about it, so I blogged about it at:

Exactly. As your graph shows, the Election Day 2004 gasoline price was near the peak for the year.
