In Baghdad on June 2, U.S. Army Pfc. Stephen Tschiderer was shot in the chest by a sniper hiding in a van. His body armor saved him.
After a short firefight, Tschiderer, a medic from Mendon, N.Y., tracked down his attacker, who was wounded and dripping blood. When Tschiderer caught the sniper, he handcuffed him and gave him medical aid.
That Tschiderer is the democratic man. He’s a reminder that the U.S.-led forces in Iraq aren’t there to kill. They’re there to help Iraqis complete the establishment of a free Iraq.
The enemy. The fascist snipers and fanatic bombers clearly have a different goal.

The nice thing about our country is that this kind of behavior is not news.
