Fidel Castro has launched an investigation into who ran a Dec. 4 front-page picture of him looking like Adolf Hitler in his own official newspaper, Granma.
Castro, who has run a single-party police state since 1959, reportedly is outraged at the comparison. After all, Castro still has a little beard left.
But in the Granma photograph, Castro’s beard is lightened and his upper lip holds a much more Nazi-like mustache. Across the top of Castro’s head is the hint of Hitler’s comb-over hair style.
Castro has allowed no free elections or free press during his tenure as dictator. His secret police, strict censorship and block-watch informers have enslaved all Cubans. Apparently, one of his servants has dared to show displeasure.
Earlier this year, he had three young men shot to death for trying to escape Cuba in a ferry boat, and he arrested nearly 80 pro-democracy Cubans, sentencing them to up to 27 years in prison.
If Castro continues to behave in fascist style, that Granma photo editor is in big trouble.
