The Obama administration decided today to put Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his four pals on trial at the Guantanamo Bay prison that the president once promised to have closed by early 2010.
The decision was the only practical option for any responsible person with two feet on the ground. For the dreamers who can’t see facts until facts come crushing down, it took more than two years to see the obvious -- that it would be ridiculous and dangerous to hold KSM’s trial in a civil court in Manhattan.
Reminder: Guantanamo has been found by international inspection teams to be one of the most humane maximum-security prisons on Earth. No one has even been water-boarded there, not even KSM.
