Sarah Palin surprised everyone today when she announced she would resign as governor of Alaska on July 26.
She made the announcement in an unprepared statement that spent far too much time on whining about ethics investigations and far too little time about what, if anything, she plans to do to build a better America as an ex-governor.
Unless this is it and she's leaving politics forever, Palin would do herself a favor if she'd prepare her statements better, spell out clearly what she wants, and stop using the verb "progress" when she really means "advance."
A serious leader can't waste golden opportunities in the limelight. Today Palin wasted the moment.

Are you kidding us? You're being harder on a woman you wouldn't vote for because she has an (R) after her name than you are on the no experience lying president we have in office this moment who is bankrupting the country as he takes us into socialist hell.
Sarah doesn't owe anyone anything after the way she and her family have been treated. Yet, you seem to think she is obliged to answer every question you have.
Get on to the damn president to answer the questions he should since he promised to always be honest to the American people and hold his feet to the fire as he breaks every promise he's every made to Americans.

Rick Sanchez: "Is Sarah Palin Quitting Because She Is Pregnant Again?"
I'm waiting for someone in the left-wing MSM to say Gov. Sanford got her pregnant and her code name is "Maria".

More information on “grassroots” supporters gathering across the nation to support Sarah Palin for President in 2012 can be found online at www.palin4pres2012.com
Note, the website is in danger of crashing due to the flood of readers and supporters signing up to show their interest in a Palin Candidacy. The GOP establishment had better watch out, Sarah Palin and Ron Paul combined with the power of the internet will remove the stranglehold of GOP special interests and the elites who have brought the party to its knees in defeat in the 2008 elections.

It's sad to see Mrs. Palin go, but it's probably best for her and her family. Political life destroys families. Remember, the Kennedy's were just fun-loving rum-runners before politics destroyed them.
In other, and more good news, I've given my people the task of fixing the half-headed liberty that you use. I think they've come up with a great alternative. No need to have your people call my people if you want to use it. It's free of charge.

I liked Sarah and thought she would have made a better VP than Biden. Nothing Biden has done has convinced me otherwise.
That said, I am not impressed by her giving up and not even completing a single full term as Governor. I think her biggest weakness is that she lacked experience and this choice doesn't help that.

The timing of her announcement appeared to be designed to keep it out of the news. It didn't make it into Washington Week for instance. Nobody is going to watch anything until Monday night. By then, somebody claiming to be Michael Jackson's secret love-child will come forward.

Good point on the timing. Then again, it just seemed so abrupt, and as I said, confused. The press conference made the whole thing sound like a whim, something to do on a Friday.

And Kevin, now I understand why you see a woman's head and think it's only half a head. You think adults have heads one-quarter the size of their bodies.
That's only in cartoons!
Posted by: Frank Warner | July 04, 2009 at 01:41 AM
Foreshortening. When you're looking up, the head appears even smaller. Artists do that automatically to give a more dramatic perspective. Also, Kevin might not be used to seeing heads with a lot of hair, at least, not if Homer S. is his role model.

The MSM won't let her do anything that would be hidden by a simple Friday. Of course, they let Congress get away with voting for a ridiculous piece of legislation that no one has read on a Friday. But the MSM has its priorities. Their job is to tear down any threat that isn't liberal, including Sarah Palin.
If you think she would actually worry about hiding something on a Friday, then you just aren't paying attention to all of the events the MSM has put her through since McCain (RINO) chose her as his second banana. [Fortunate for Barak Hussein Obama, the Republicans didn't have a first banana running in the 2008 election.] Getting it all behind her, even on a Friday, she and her family can actually enjoy a 4th of July holiday weekend (and beyond) without the destructive politics of MSM adversaries wearing her down. Sounds like a great plan to me.
Once again, Palin plays by her own rules
Her press conference was no more confusing than the ones held by Gov. Sanford-- and he isn't even resigning! So I guess you're saying a woman needs to be held to a higher standard. Sexists! lol Where is NOW to defend Sarah?

I think Mark Steyn over at NRO captures it best, Cutting Bait. Just because she ran for Governor, just because she accepted McCain's call to support him as his Vice Presidential candidate, doesn't mean she expected or should put up with the vitriol of the left for the rest of her life. I wish her the best. She deserves nothing less.

Ok, a compromise it is then.
Happy fourth! Oh, and I agree with DH's last comment.
