This is the April 27 photo that cost $328,000. Or at least, this was the one photo released. The White House must have something better than this.
Obviously, this particular photo was chosen for release for two reasons. First, it makes the jumbo jet appear to be far above the Statue of Liberty. Other photos using any kind of zoom would make the plane look much closer to the Statue. The White House didn't want to feed the low-altitude "buzzing" stories. And second, the camera shows us only the New Jersey side of the Statue. The shot doesn't show the skyscrapers of Lower Manhattan, which would remind us of the thousands of New Yorkers the photo shoot scared.
