Suddenly, I’m getting an unusually large number of hits on my Dec. 1, 2006, post about Lara “Laura” Logan, whom I took to task for speaking of “managing the defeat” in Iraq as if defeat were certain.
“We hear a lot about how to manage the defeat,” she said to U.S. Army General John Abizaid, at a time when only one publication – the U.K.’s Financial Times -- had ever mentioned the idea of “managing the defeat” in Iraq.
“What defeat?” Abizaid responded, quite properly.
So why the current interest in Logan? Is she now talking of “managing the victory” in Iraq?
Toe to toe. No. It turns out The National Enquirer is linking her romantically with CNN’s Michael Ware and also with a State Department contractor in Baghdad. The news must be slow in Iraq. The reporters have so much time on their hands.
