When you control the vote counters, you can count on the votes. Too many Venezuelans let Hugo Chavez take dictatorial control of their country. Now it will be up to those same careless Venezuelans to carefully reclaim their freedom.
A few protested, but most watched silently as Chavez ordered election officials to count, “One for you and two for me.”
Libertad was lost far too easily. It won’t be so easily restored.
“Americans for Chavez” are celebrating Venezuela’s enslavement and calling it “democracy.” (See comments.):
Awww... isn’t it just terrible when democracy actually represents the will of the people as opposed to US interests? LOL!
Now you sound almost like Democrats in the US whining about “who controls the voting machines” LOL!
¡Viva la Revolución Bolivariana!
¡Viva El Processo!
¡Viva Chávez!

Holding hands. Of course, one difference between U.S. elections and the Chavez elections is that, in the United States, nearly 100 percent of voting machines have both Democratic Party and Republican Party poll watchers. This “election” in Venezuela did not have representatives of both Chavez and his opposition at each polling place. Now, with all the new powers given Chavez, it will be impossible for voters to unseat him democratically.
In five years, the madmen and mercenaries who today celebrate Chavez’ overthrow against democracy will wonder why, when Chavez showed them the chains, they happily held out their hands.
BUT WAIT! (12:40 a.m. Monday EST) Is it possible the "No" vote was so overwhelming that Chavez couldn't rig enough votes in his favor? Caracas Chronicles says Chavez has lost. Let's see ... It is impossible to tell if Caracas Chronicles really knows anything.
Update: (1:05 a.m. Monday EST) VENEZUELANS TELL CHAVEZ TO SHUT UP! DEMOCRACY WINS! WOW!
I guess you can't count your totalitarian police states before they're hatched.

The stronger Chavez tries to control, the more out of control he will become. Fidel Castro ran one of the most successful dictatorships of all time, and he did it buy keeping the people on his side. Most people will except whatever rule is put upon them unless you try to control to much to fast, then they rebel.

The difference is that Chávez is sincerely popular because he has backed up his rhetoric with action to help the poor and oppressed at the expense of the traditional elites WITHOUT being undemocratic or unconstitutional.

Well, your "sincerely popular" leader has lost. Let's see how closely he follows the constitution now.
You losers are luckier than you know.

That doesn't sound good. When will he go so far that he has gone too far?
