This is interesting. Fidel Castro has received treatment for his intestinal problem from a Spanish doctor.
The first noteworthy angle is that a foreign physician is more likely than any Cuban doctor to give an accurate public report on Castro’s condition. Does Castro have cancer? Is he dying? If not, why has he been out of power since July 31?
A Spanish doctor might let this state secret slip.
Cuban health care. The other interesting aspect is that Castro is admitting the health-care system he has boasted about for so long isn’t good enough.
Cuba probably has more doctors per capita than any nation on Earth. Is Castro saying not one of these doctors can help him? Why can’t they?

Note: Babalu blog points out that, according to Reuters, the Spanish doctor’s plane "carried medical equipment not available in Cuba." This is another reminder that Cuba’s health system is lacking.
