Chirac says France doesn’t know if Osama bin Laden is dead or alive

A French newspaper reported today that French intelligence sources had concluded Osama bin Laden died Aug. 23 in Pakistan of typhoid. However, French President Jacques Chirac said the report is “in no way whatsoever confirmed.”

The last we heard of bin Laden was in a June 29 audiotape praising the serial murderer Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who had died June 7 in a U.S. air attack. These new news reports on bin Laden sound like rumors, nothing more.
