Could an Iraq civil war be a good thing?

Now some are saying a civil war wouldn’t be such a bad thing for Iraq. The advantage: It could crush the old fascist mindset once and for all. The disadvantage: The death toll.

Ironically, avoiding all-out civil war looks uglier because the relatively low-level violence is a prolonged story of misery. A massive war, though bloodier, might look kinder because it might end quicker. But that’s only appearance.

Let’s work at the no-civil-war route.
