Name-calling and ad hominems usually don’t help a debate. But in hopeless cases, they clarify how much weight to give an excessively dumb position.
Pat Robertson is a nitwit. He’s called for the assassination of Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, a struggling democracy. Yes, Chavez himself is a major reason Venezuela’s democracy is struggling. But let him get elected out of office, if that’s what the Venezuelans want. Let’s not call for assassinations.
And what does Robertson think he’s doing for Christianity by having one of its ministers urging someone’s death? Is Chavez killing people? If so, I’ve missed it. This seems too much like an eye for an eyebrow. That ain’t in the Bible. It’s a nitwit’s theology.
Who would Jesus assassinate?
