Missiles from the Kingdom of Jordan
Jordan has been a dictatorship too long. It’s the best way to explain today’s missiles of Jordan.
Jordan’s ridiculous terrorists are just another part of the Cold War legacy of U.S. short-term support for amateur "reformer" dictators against Communism’s more permanent, professional tyrants.
Well, the Cold War has been over about 15 years, and, despite U.S. financial aid out the wazoo, Jordan remains on the Dark Side. The ugly repression is showing on its people, many of whom are so screwed up they admire the fascism of Saddam Hussein. (How many hundred Jordanian lawyers lined up to defend Saddam?) A lot of that has to do with the enemy of your enemy being your friend, but man, what a waste of brain power in Jordan. Too many Jordanians have made Israel and the United States their mortal enemies, when their real enemy is their own homegrown political repression.
Monarchy is un-American. Just who elected that blowhard Abdallah II king? And what about Jordan’s American queen, Abdallah’s stepmother? Queen Noor? What kind of American traitor is she to pretend she’s a monarch, and to support a dictatorship? What was 1776 all about, Lisa? (Lisa Halaby is her human being name.)
I understand we have to support Abdallah II during a difficult one-step-at-a-time transition to democracy in the fragile Middle East. But let’s get this done in the next 10 or 15 years. Jordanians are living whole lifetimes in oppression and insanity, and they have a right to better.
In the meantime, crazy people are shooting rockets at us.
