The Seeing Eye Blog makes an excellent observation on President Bush’s remark that, when Condoleezza Rice and he slipped out of his Texas ranch in the back of an unmarked van, “We looked like a normal couple.”
The Thanksgiving Day comment is one of those accidental indicators that, in spite of the boneheads, the world really is getting better. The more accidental such words, the more encouraging. They reassure us that freedom has a future.
It reminded me of Reagan’s statement, as quoted by one of his children, that racism eventually will be overcome by sex; people of various colors will mix and intermarry to a point where color no longer is an excuse to divide.
